17.2 and the Full Story

The left side of the spread. This is a photo I took then applied it to the wonderful Luma inks in the background and sealed up with matte medium.

The full spread.

This is one of my favorites. The picture on the left is a picture I took and I just pasted it down on top of the swirls of inks. The right is pure white FW ink.

Well these pages were way fun!! The left side is my Heinrich Kley tribute. If you've never seen Kley's work do yourself a favor and check him out. The right page was really unintentional. It wasn't until I finished it, walked away from it, then showed it to my partner, and she said "You know I really hate Mondrian." I guess I had him on the brain and didn't know it. By the way I like Mondrian, so I took it as a compliment. :)

I took a blueprint for an obseratory, printed it on vellum, and saturated it in ink the incased it in medium. Very fun.

I was experimenting with layers and wanting the layers to "melt" together. You can't tell so much with this 2D image but it seemed to work really well; plus I love lace design.

This was a fun page. The right side is a photo of a sidewalk in the neighborhood. I stuck the photo down with gloss and matte medium then used ink to paint a ghostly figure, then put a paper doll dress on her. The left side was just some texture fun.

I spent some time working with the layers of images and colors with these two pages. All the arches in the building reminded me of palm trees.

These two pages were done by "sealing" images in the page. Layers of color then the photos then more color and mediums. The right side is a photo of a ghost on a staircase. I like the idea of fusing the photos on the page making them really a part of the book.

Here's the second part of page 3. Once again just playing around with some inks and I also used some yellow interferance. It's all sealed up with some matte medium.

And thd full spread. I'm really liking how the book is coming along.

Welcome to page two. I gessoed these two pages for texture and used the great Luma ink for color.

This is the first page of the book. I cut part of the front cover out and place a shiny blue paper over the hole and then covered that with some red tissue paper using matte medium. The other side is a decorative lace paper I colored with some inks and mediums. There in the top right corner is the next page peeping over.

From a Stranger to Friend

Started working on an altered book. I took Camus "The Stranger" and I'm kinda redoing it. Here is the front and back cover. This is a photo I took, tweaked it a bit and attached it to a piece of copper that I painted and glossed and then attached it all to the front cover that I colored with a variety of inks. The back cover is the same inking process. I'm going to post the whole book here . . . promise.
